Google’s Street View hit in Nederland

AMSTELVEEN - Nederlanders storten zich massaal op Google's Street View, de mogelijkheid om op straatniveau rond te kijken in straten van ons land. Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Groningen zijn voor een groot deel meter voor meter gefotografeerd. De foto's zijn te bekijken door in Google Maps een geel poppetje naar de plattegrond te slepen.

Nieuw perspectief
Funda, Iens en VVV zijn de eerste zakelijke gebruikers van Street View. Het nieuwe perspectief op de wereld is door lokale VVV's in websites verwerkt. Toeristen kunnen hiermee routes plannen en visueel bepalen welk gebouw ze zoeken. Iens gebruikt Street View voor het vindbaar maken van restaurants, Funda toont gefotografeerde huizen en hun omgeving.

Dronken
Google View is niet geheel onomstreden. Op de foto's zijn namelijk ook mensen te zien. GeenStijl heeft geheel naar eigen motto: 'gewoon, omdat het kan' allerlei genante situaties verzameld. Zo zien we mannen bij prostituees naar binnen gaan, mensen ruzie maken op straat en iemand dronken voor een café liggen. De gezichten zijn onherkenbaar gemaakt, maar dat is lang niet altijd afdoende. Google ondervangt dit privacyprobleem door de mogelijkheid foto's te laten verwijderen.

Eén persoon die in ieder geval niet blij is, is Beau van Erven Dorens. Hij is al bellend gefotografeerd voor zijn huis aan een Amsterdamse gracht.
